About the Artist
From his studio in Sharon, Vermont, Mike Biegel creates detailed illustrations in an elaborate pen & ink style for commercial and publishing clients. He’s been drawing pictures since 1984 after attending Syracuse University. Inevitably, his journeys led him to settle in Vermont where the lay of the land and the change of the seasons match many of his favorite subjects to illustrate.
Having been raised in New Jersey, Mike became closely involved in the illustration business. He was president of the Self-employed Writer’s and Artist’s Network for four years. Traveling to Vermont to ski almost every weekend, his work became seriously influenced by the mountains, rivers and rolling hillsides. The artist opened a studio in Woodstock VT in 1998. At the end of 2005 he relocated to a remote property in Sharon complete with a view, the proverbial pond and Internet satellite. The creation of all images and daily operations are now run from a separate cottage on that property. Mike continues to illustrate for publishers and corporations.
In addition to vermontholidaycards.com and holidaycardsonline.com, visit the artists’ commercial illustration web site at www.mikebiegel.com where you can view a bolder, more "industrial strength" version of his work that has been applied to logos, corporate brochures and more. Those curious about personal commissions of their home in the artist’s crow-quill pen style can view samples by clicking on any link for the house portraits section.
In between freelance assignments the artist can be found skiing many of the New England ski resorts, trail running the switchbacks of Mt. Tom in Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historic Park or hiking the trails near Mount Ascutney! Not to mention tending a large garden, maintaining some daunting landscape and making sure his cat Piper has been fed.
